Linkin Park will release their new Rick Rubin (Metallica, Audioslave) produced album, ‘A Thousand Suns‘, on September 14th. The first single “The Catalyst” is set to impact radio on August 2nd.

The “Big Four”’s, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax, will June 22nd concert in Sofia, Bulgaria will be shown in more than 450 theaters around the U.S., Canada, Europe and Latin America. Linkin Park have entered the studio with Rick Rubin (Metallica, Audioslave) to record the follow-up to 2007’s ‘Minutes to Midnight‘. No word on a possible release date.

Metallica will be featured on the relaunch of VH1’s Behind the Music series. Behind the Music Remastered will debut on February 6th on VH1 Classic and will pick up where the band’s 1998 Behind the Music episode left off with recent interviews and other footage.

Motley Crue, Def Leppard and others will also be featured.

Metallica’s self-titled release is now the best selling album since Soundscan began tracking sales in May 1991 with 15,490,000 copies sold. ‘Metallica‘ is the fourth album to top the “release date” chart and the first hard rock album to reach the top. The album is also the first not to include a single top 10 single.

Metal’s Big Four, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax, will tour Europe in 2010. The band’s will be apart of the Sonisphere festival which begins on June 16th in Poland and will make stops in the Czech Republic, Romania, Turkey, Sofia, Bulgaria, Knebworth, Bucharest, the United Kingdom and others.
